about
Following on from the release of his highly-praised single ‘Over You’, which landed back in April last year, emerging producer and frontman FRANÇOIS is now back once again to unveil his highly-anticipated new EP ‘BE MINE’.
Featuring the three previously unreleased offerings ‘ONE DANCE’, ‘Young N Dumb’ and the collection’s title-track, ‘BE MINE’ sees him continue the bright and uplifting alt-RnB sound he has cultivated for himself over the last few years. Bringing together a rich array of smooth and diverse production up against his own sensual vocal style, these new cuts see him take a bold step forward in his sound.
While romance and lust remain a constant theme of these new singles, the main intention of his new EP is to create a retrospective snapshot of his personal relationships over his entire life. While the ‘Young N Dumb’ sees him look back on a broken romantic entanglement, and the track ‘BE MINE’ focuses on his wish for a love to move to the next level, ‘ONE DANCE’ sees him in a far broader and reflective mood. Filled with memories about his family and friends, with his own late grandfather providing the imagery for the song’s video, this release shows us his most personal and intimate side to date.
Speaking about the new EP, he said, “This EP was written about reminiscing. It touches on some personal memories and some influence from watching the world go on around me. The whole EP was written over a few days and finished whilst spending some time recording in London. I hope people can feel touched and relate to the lyrics in ways that will feel personal to them.”
‘BE MINE’ is set for release on 18th December 2020 via Silent Kid Records, with Young N Dumb dropping 21st October.
lyrics
You in your red dress
And me in all black
We were young drunk and flirty In the back of the cab
It felt really special cause you had my back But I kinda ghosted i’m sorry for that
Tell me something I wanna hear something
Yeah you really stole my heart Young n dumb
Even though we’re worlds apart I just wanna be young n dumb Feel my heart beat like a drum
Sometimes I see you
My heart skips a beat
We were young dumb and foolish Young n dumb
I still got your number say should I reach out Wish we could go back to the back of that cab Tell me something I wanna hear something
Yeah you really stole my heart Young n dumb
Even though we’re worlds apart I just wanna be young n dumb Feel my heart beat like a drum
Yeah you really stole my heart
If you wanna give it back you know where i’m at Feel my heart beat like a drum
